The hard surface of a road, made of concrete, stone, or asphalt.

The rain made the pavement wet and shiny.

Children were drawing pictures on the pavement with chalk.

The pavement was very hot in the summer sun.

I tripped because the pavement was uneven.

Workers are repairing the pavement in front of our house.
