E106 Transportation – Train and car

TEXT

Jack: How do you get to work?

Gary: I take the train to work almost every day.

Jack: Why “almost” and not every day?

Gary: Train is fast and inexpensive, and I enjoy riding it, but sometimes I need to go see clients and need to have my car.

Jack: I see.

Gary: Trains are not slowed down by traffic jams during rush hours, like cars.

Jack: When are the rush hours here?

Gary: Usually between 6AM and 8AM, when people get to work; and between 4PM and 7PM, after work.

Jack: Why do you think trains are inexpensive?

Gary: Because there is no gasoline to pay, no maintenance expenses, no parking fees, and the cost of the ticket is low.

Jack: Is there any disadvantage?

Gary: Yes, it’s very crowded during rush hours, the trains and platforms are full of people.

Jack: It’s probably still better than wasting your time sitting in the traffic.

Gary: Absolutely.
