E108 Traveling abroad

John: Have you lived abroad?
Mary: Yes, I have. I was born in France, my father worked there for the Canadian embassy.
John: Really? How old were you when you left there?
Mary: I was 12 when we left there.
John: Then did you come back directly to Canada?

Mary: No we moved from France to Mexico and stayed there for another 4 years.
John: Very interesting! Do you speak French and Spanish?
Mary: Yes, I’m perfectly fluent in French and I can manage quite well in Spanish. I can also speak elementary German, because we spent 2 years there.

John: Did you visit many parts of France and Mexico while you were living there?

Mary: Yes. We visited all the famous landmarks of Paris, the chateaux along the Loire valley and the Mayan and Aztec ruins in Mexico.

John: You have been to so many countries, which one was your favorite?
Mary: I like different things in different countries. France has so many interesting monuments , their food is delicious; Mexican food has its own special flavor, German beer parties are fun, and the Canadian landscape is breathtaking.
John: You are so lucky to have known so many interesting cultures
