Lemma

by rob2018|Published April 24, 2026

A lemma is the main form of a word that you find in a dictionary. All other forms of the word (like plurals, verb tenses, or related adjectives/adverbs) belong to the same lemma because they come from the same basic meaning.

Example of a large lemma

“Go” is a large lemma because it includes many related forms: go/ goes/ went/ going/ gone
